Hi and welcome to the PRSI Writing Project blog. The aim of this blog is to provide useful resources for your writing project.
This blog is intended to support the University of Gloucestershire’s Writing Project run by the Pedagogic Research & Scholarship Institute.
The blog is structured by reverse chronological order. The last posting will appear at the top. (Except I have made this Welcome Message ‘sticky’ which means it will appear at the top for the next couple of months). Each new blog posting will have a date of posting just under the heading and tag links at the bottom of the posting.
To find the resources you need, you can start with the Archive in the right column – the blog was initiated in May 2008 and we have continued to post information about useful resources. You can use the Categories to find the information you need, or use the Tags for a more specific description of each posting.
Please post Comments in response to blogs – the aim is for me to post thought provoking ideas and resources, and you comment on them. To get you started, please post a short description of your project (theme, author(s), target output) as a comment to this posting. You can do this by filling in the boxes at the bottom of the page. (If the boxes don’t appear, then click on the Comments link at the bottom of the page.)
If you get lost at any time, you can click on the ‘Home’ tab at the top of each page and it will return you to this page.
Hope you find it useful. Feedback or suggestions welcome!

Thankyou for letting me join your writing initiatives and blog. I am putting this on to register myself and introduce myself to people, especially at Gloucestershire.
I am Professor of HE Learning and Management at Aston University. I am working on a number of different writing projects at the moment. Most of them are either to do with employability or with intercultural learning. My main writing is on the latter at the moment and this is what I will be working on at the retreat.
Hi
I started to read this some hours ago then went off into the internet ferreting to read Rowena’s article and have had a very interesting time. I think you could also add to this the fact that we are all writing when we create module guides, manage web sites for modules, write feedback for students, and reassure and inform via email..just a few thoughts,
thank you for this blog.. it’s been great. I’m off to order my copy of Rowena’s book ..
Hello
we are the ‘Swedish girls’ undertaking research into active learning. Each year we take our final year ECS students to Sweden to experience preschool education. We are hoping to find out what impact this active learning experience has on the students practice after they leave university. We are looking forward to the writing retreat so we can get ahead on analysing our data and writing our paper. We also hope to sample some good food, nice wine and walk in the countryside.
Hi, I’m looking forward to the writing retreat as a means of making me get on with the task! The sessions have already been very helpful in helping me to focus on one particular topic – thanks to Lyndsey and Kenny. The EndNote seesion was helpful too – should save a lot of time and I shall be desseminating it to my students ASAP.
My working title is, “The effectiveness of peer formative feedback to improve performance in academic writing skills for undergraduate students: coomputing students can write!”
The grand aim of the intervention is to have a transformative effect on Dissertations, particularly for our students with disabilities (mainly dyslexia) and international top-ups.
Btw I’m a Course Leader for Multimedia Web Development and Interactive Games Design at The Park. Check out http://computing.glos.ac.uk to see what our department does in course/subject terms.
Cheers
Dear All
I am not a blogger so have been avoiding this!
I am attending the PRSI Writing Retreat as part of the Brookes contingent. This year I have been heading up the Centre for International Curriculum Inquiry and Networking (CICIN) and together with Jane Sprio and Juliet Henderson (exec members of CICIN) am going to try and pull together several of our CICIN research projects, focusing on ‘shifting academic identities.’
Here is a new book that might be of interest.
